what season one taught us

build something the judges haven’t seen before.

Two Innovate Awards in a rookie year set the team’s identity: original mechanisms, deliberate engineering, and documentation that tells the story. DECODE turned that identity into wins.

the rookie machine · zenith

sample-chasing in the deep

Into the Deep was a manipulation game — samples and specimens, baskets and chambers — and Zenith attacked it with a vertical elevator, a custom intake, and more ambition than spare parts.

The mechanisms earned back-to-back Innovate Awards; the control stack took 2nd for the Control Award at the state championship; and the mentor program behind it all won the Compass Award.

The robot never made it out of New Hampshire. The lessons made it all the way to Long Beach.
