The season finale, 3,000 miles from home: a championship-level national event — and Boundless swept qualification without dropping a match.

the machine

the robot should never be doing only one thing.

That one idea shaped every subsystem — and earned the Control Award at Bedford and the Innovate Award at Kittery.

Bubu’s turreted dual-flywheel launcher decoupled aiming from driving: the drivetrain sprinted the next intake line while the turret tracked the goal on its own, locked onto the scoring AprilTag through a Limelight 3A pipeline with a 0.30° aim gate.

Autonomous ran 13 spline paths on Pedro Pathing under a seven-state FSM with three parallel timers. Flywheels spooled up mid-drive and shots released on arrival — the final optimization pass before Long Beach cut each scoring cycle from ~4.7 to ~4.0 seconds.

Velocity-PID flywheels held RPM shot-to-shot, hood angle came from a distance-calibrated lookup table spanning 40–145 inches, and a beam-break inventory tracked all three balls onboard.

Second seed after qualification, Boundless picked longtime ally Tesseract 21689 — and the alliance swept the elimination bracket for the second event in a row.

The recap catches the whole run from the drive team’s point of view: the auto stacking up, the turret holding lock through defense, and the moment the sweep clinched.
